STORY ON HOW KNAP WAS BORNThis project was born from our passion for minimalist living and our love for nature. We explored the balance between simplicity, comfort, and budget, refining our vision to create a cabin that embodies the essence of minimalism without compromise.With no prior building experience, we wanted to keep costs low by constructing the cabin ourselves. Keeping this in mind, we carefully researched the best building materials and invested heavily in design to create a DIY-friendly concept—one that allows anyone to easily build their own nature retreat. Once the pre-cut panels were delivered and assembled, we were able to settle into our newly built cabin in just a few weeks.Since we primarily use the cabin in summer, we moved several key functions outdoors. The terrace doubles as a living and dining area, while the spacious outdoor kitchen is perfect for cooking. After a long day of surfing, the outdoor shower offers a refreshing retreat. This smart use of outdoor space allowed us to keep the interior compact while maximizing comfort and functionality.We firmly believe in downsizing and a clutter-free lifestyle. Since building our KNAP in 2022 and spending every summer there, we’re now ready to share our vision with you—offering a thoughtfully designed space for your perfect nature retreat.Why KNAP?The name KNAP comes from the Latvian word "knapi," which translates to "just enough."
